In 1936, a “People’s Olympiad” was planned in Barcelona in protest to the Olympic Games in Berlin which was then under the control of the Nazi party. Following the military uprising of General Francisco Franco, these “anti-fascist games” were canceled.

Based on this idea of creating a new vision of the Olympic Games, we carried out an artistic project in collaboration with construction workers from the Olympic site PRISME in Seine-Saint-Denis. The collaboration resulted in a series of staged photographs of workers performing with different objects and accessories linked to Olympic sports. The project provides a critique of the invisiblization of the labor force behind the organization of mega sporting events as well as an invitation to think of sports from the perspective of gestures and body postures.

This project was conceived in collaboration with the writer Chloé Vivarès as part of a public art commission initiated by the department of Seine Saint-Denis.
