Daniel Mebarek (b. 1993, Bolivian/Algerian) is an artist working with photography, video and installation. Drawing on his academic background in social sciences, his artistic practice examines issues related to collective memory, history and identity. His projects also explore how collaborative processes can challenge the power dynamics traditionally rooted in documentary photography.
He has been nominated for the 2024 C/O Berlin Talent Award (DE) and has received grants from the Centre National des Arts Plastiques (FR), PhMuseum (IT) and Photolucida (US). His work has been featured in The British Journal of Photography (UK), Aperture (US) and Camera Austria (AT), amongst others. In 2025, he will participate in the upcoming edition of the Discovery Award at the Rencontres d’Arles.
